Omicron enters Udaipur; 3 Positive with the latest COVID Variant

A couple who have flown in from Nigeria have tested double negative, are asymptomatic and have been discharged. The third, a 73 year old male is admitted in hopsital.

The report classifying three patients as Omicron Positive came in from NIV Pune today

The Chief Medical and Health Officer, Udaipur has reported three cases of the Omicron variant in Udaipur.

As per the official reports recieved a moment ago, 3 perons in Udaipur have tested positive for the Omicron COVID variant. A couple residing in Hathipol, Udaipur have arrived from Nigeria, while one person, who has no travel history, resides in Savina.  A 48 year old male and his 46 year old wife, both fully vaccinated, have arrived from Nigeria and reside in Hawala Marg, Hathipol. The third person, a 73 year old male from Savina, had tested negatie on 21 December, but has now been found carrying the Omicron COVID variant.

The report from National Institute of Virology, Pune, that classified the three samples to be Omicron positive has been given today. In all, 21 samples from Rajasthan have been classified as Omicron Positive today. 11 Samples were from Jaipur, 6 from Ajmer and 3 from Udaipur. One additional sample is that of a Maharashtra resident, who is currently in Rajsthan.

While the couple from Nigeria have tested double negative and have been discharged, the 73 year old from Nigeria is admitted in MB General Hiospital. All three patients are full vaccinated. Testing Negative twice over a time interval ensures that a productive infection is not ongoing.

The couple from Nigeria had arrived in Udaipur on 11 December, and since then they have been under quarantine, following positive report.
