NOT MANDATORY to have online appointment or registration to avail Covid Vaccine services

The government gave this clarification after people in rural areas reportedly faced issues in getting vaccinated.

Anyone above 18 years of age can now avail the benefit of getting vaccinated directly as a walk-in. 

The vaccinators will perform the on-site registration and adminiter the vaccine in the same visit.

The Central government clarified on Tuesday that online registration or appointment is not mandatory for availing covid vaccination.

 The clarification came after there were complaints of people in the rural areas facing issues in getting vaccinated.

Anyone above the age of 18 years can now walk-in directly into any nearest vaccination centre. The vaccinating staff will perform on-site registration and administer the vaccine in the same visit.

The Centre said that the facilitated registration through the CSCs on Co-WIN is just one of the many modes of registration.

Until 13th June, 16.45 crore beneficiaries have been vaccinated through walk-in mode, 28.36 crore through registration on Co-WIN. According to the health ministry out of the total 69,995 vaccination centers so far classified by states on Co-WIN as rural or urban, 49,883 vaccination centers, i.e. 71%, are located in rural areas.
