Development of commercial activities in Manikya Lal Verma Park is being opposed by Congress representatives. In their letter given to the district administration, Congress reportedly stated that a park is not supposed to have commercial activities as this is not what a park is meant for. It may be noted that work for adventure zone has been started in the park at Dudh Talai under the Smart City project.

In their memo to ADM City (Administration), the representatives said that forest department is trying to save the forest areas and there are strict rules for this. High Court has issued stay on commercial activities in public parks, despite this Municipal Corporation and Smart City project have a tie up for commercial activities in this park. The letter also stated that Machla Magra forest zone gave the land to UIT only for developing park and not for other things. It has been demanded that action be taken against any other activity or development that takes place in parks. Forest department must also stand against the Smart City project for disturbing the peace of the park.
