The controversy regarding Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s movie Padmavati has ensure that it will not be released, atleast for the time being, in theatres in the region.
Members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal carried out a survey of cinema halls in Udaipur to see if any of those were promoting the movie Padmavati. VHP official Paramveer Singh Dulawat held meetings with Theatre managers wherein it was agreed that the movie would not be screened, at least for the time being. Dulawat said that they would ensure that the movie is not released despite pressures.
On the other hand, Police and administration issued letters to theatre managers asking them to take adequate steps to ensure that law and order is maintained. All collectors in the region have also been asked to ensure law and order considering the controversy surrounding the movie. Collectors of Udaipur, Rajsamand, Chittorgarh, Pratapgarh, Bansara and Dungarpur have been asked to ensure full preparation in countering any law and order issues.
