Udaipur, January 22, 2025 - Pannadhay Park near Goverdhan Sagar in Udaipur, built at a cost of Rs 5 crore, has fallen into disrepair just two and a half years after its inauguration on August 30, 2022. Initially a popular destination for visitors and pre-wedding shoots, the park is now deserted and plagued by maintenance issues.
Thorny bushes have overtaken the gardens, while railings, swings, and fountains are broken. Garbage is scattered, stray dogs roam freely, and the water tanks are dirty and leaking. Pavilions are unkempt, and the grass remains unattended.
The park's maintenance, once managed by a contracted firm, has been neglected as the Udaipur Municipal Corporation failed to renew the contract. Maintenance duties were later handed over to untrained MGNREGA workers and a Sulabh Toilet contractor, but no guards were stationed to oversee the park’s safety.
Drug addicts and stray animals have taken over the park, making it unsafe for visitors. The lack of fencing and missing trash bins have worsened the condition, leaving the once-popular park in a state of utter neglect.
