A panther died after getting hit by a heavy transport vehicle on Udaipur-Dabok highway. 10 kilometres away from Udaipur city, the panther was crossing the road at power-house crossing on Wednesday night.

The accident proved to be fatal for the panther and it died on the spot. A team from forest department reached the spot after getting information from someone who saw the body of panther lying on the road. Traffic police also reached and gave directions for one-way traffic on that route for a while. Sajjangarh Wildlife team also reached the highway and shifted the body if the panther to roadside to clear the traffic. It was then brought to Gulab Bagh at 10:40 p.m.

The hills near the highway have panthers in large numbers. As per information, the place where this panther got hit is less frequented by panthers. This wild beast probably lost its way and met with its fate.
