22 hours of terror created by panther in City Palace

The panther that created terror for almost 22 hours has finally been tranquilised and shifted to Sajjangarh Bio-Park. It was around 10 p.m. when the panther was trapped in the gallery of Fateh Prakash Hotel in City Palace premises.

The teams of forest department were on toes from Sunday night until the entire day on Monday. They kept waiting for the panther to enter the cage but it did not. Finally hunger forced the female panther to move inside the cage and that was the end of the story.

The bait was tied in the cage from Sunday night itself but the panther could not be traced or trapped at all. The wait was on until Monday night and then hunger pangs pushed the panther into the cage. The moment it moved on towards the cage to relish the goat, the shooter of the forest department team tranquilised it.

It is being assumed that the panther entered the palace premises via the trees alongside the walls of Samor Baag. It entered the gallery around 11:30 p.m. and the guard saw it and closed the gallery gate immediately. The shape of the gallery was a big obstruction in trapping the panther.

The panther is likely to be shifted to Jaisamand forest today.
