Parking Problems to be Resolved in Old City

Finally intense parking problem have attracted some concern from the Udaipur Municipal Council (UMC). The organization has stated that a special sub-committee has been formed to speed up the process of taking strict action against illegal encroachment in the interior parts of city as well as allotting adequate free space for parking.

A number of plans are in the process of being implemented in an attempt to rid certain areas of the Old Town of congestion. One among these is to shift street vendors so they do not continue their business by the roadside in confined markets such as those located at Mukherji Chowk, Dhaan Mandi and Delhi Gate.

According to sources a step has already headed to achieve the plan in which a sub-committee is created under Treasury Department, Municipal Council, which will be removing encroachments of the localities with help from the police department.

“We have talked with the vendors and have convinced more than 90% of them, while the talk is under process with the remaining individuals, in past week a meeting with Police Department and Municipal Council held to discuss the same,” said N.L Achariya, Commissioner, UMC.

It is to be noted that a market is already situated in the Dhanmandi area but very few individuals are carrying out any form of business there. As a result, there is no moving space in the afternoon. In the evening, traffic jam as well as minor and major accidents become very common and the ever occurring issue of stray animals aggravates the problem further.
