Showcasing the miseries of present India, which is gripped between several social and political bigotries, Udaipur based local theater group ‘Natyansh’ organized a street play “Azadi ka Bantwara” (Partition of Independence) on this Independence Day.
Hundreds of people saw the play performed by young theatre artists of Natyansh at Fateh Sagar Paal.
The thought process behind the plot of the play was:
“Our country got independent on 15th August 1947 but the reality is something else. India got its independence but in three different pieces. After 66 years of freedom, the fire of partition is spreading again and demands of 20 new states have come up recently.”
“First, we were slaves of Britishers and now corruption, dowry killings, female foeticide, rape, insult of martyrs and politics have made us their slaves.”
Through this play, artists attempted to raise voice against all the bigotries and encouraged audiences to stand against all the evils.
Patriotic poems by Ram Prasad Bismil, Subhadra Kumari Chouhan, Piyush Mishra, Gopaldas Vyas, Sudhir Saxena and Pradeep Pathak drew special attention of audiences.
Artists Shubham Sharma, Mohammad Rizwan, Vishalraj Vaishnav, Bharat Kumawat, Jatin Nahar, Mahendra Dangi, Abdul Mubeen Khan Pathan, Rekha Sisodia and Amit Shrimali have participated in the play. Ashfaq Noor Khan Pathan and Sudhir Singh also assisted in arranging the play.
