Paytm back on Play Store | Blocking of App was against Atmanirbhar Bharat, says Vijay Shekhar

A day after Google suspended the marquee Paytm app from its Play Store, India's most favoured payment app is back on the Google Play Store. Paytm in a statement said that it has agreed to remove the UPI cashback feature called Paytm Cricket League.

Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma said that this temporary removal was done without any prior intimation or chance of rectification. Google had taken down the Paytm marquee app from Play Store as it violated Google's policy on unregulated online gambling.

Vijay Shekhar' tweet this morning said that the app is back on Play Store. Vijay, however accused Google of taking a unilateral decision, and further said that it was Google's attempt to popularise is own payments App GPay. Interestingly there were a lot of positive comments coming in when the Paytm app was taken down from Google Play Store.

Shekhar's take on Google violating the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat and the fact that one of the major investors in Paytm is the Chinese Alibaba group are two contradictory statements.
