Udaipur, July 31, 2025 - To make government social security schemes a seamless experience, the Rajasthan government has introduced the SMART project designed to automatically identify eligible beneficiaries and connect them directly to applicable welfare schemes. This will ensure timely benefit distribution and will not require beneficiaries to have to wait in long queues or submit repeated applications to access benefits such as social security pensions, incentives and grants.

The SMART (Service Management with Artificial Intelligence and Real-Time Technologies) project is an AI- and Machine Learning–powered system. With this new initiative, the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment aims to make social security schemes more transparent, faster and effective. The government has initiated the process in two phases, with the tender process for the second phase already complete.

How it Will Work

  • Data of beneficiaries from all related departments will be consolidated in a centralised data lake.
  • AI-based algorithms will process the data to automatically identify eligible individuals.
  • Applications will be automatically filled after obtaining consent from the identified beneficiaries.
  • If all necessary documents and conditions are met, the applications will be automatically approved.
  • The respective departments will directly transfer benefits/services to the beneficiaries.

Key Benefits

  • Eligibility will be AI-determined, minimising errors
  • Transparent application and approval process
  • Will save time for both beneficiaries and officials
  • Will eliminate waiting periods
  • Will control fraud and irregularities
  • Will allow for easy monitoring
  • Will reduce administrative costs

Schemes Under SMART Project

  • Old Age pension scheme
  • Widow and Disability pension
  • Palanhar scheme
  • Student scholarships
  • Incentives and grants
  • Other social security schemes
