The Rajasthan Wildlife and Biodiversity Project Phase-2, supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), has widened its scope to include Phulwari Ki Naal and Jaisamand Sanctuary in Udaipur district. This initiative aims to empower rural communities in forest regions with self-employment opportunities while focusing on water conservation and forest preservation.
Expansion Across the State
The project encompasses 650 villages across Rajasthan, spanning 10 desert districts such as Sikar, Jhunjhunu, and Jaisalmer, and five non-desert districts including Banswara and Jaipur. Moreover, it targets 7 wildlife sanctuaries, including Kumbhalgarh and Jaisamand, for comprehensive conservation efforts.
Objective and Approach
The main aim is to make more forests by working together with the Joint Forest Management (JFM) plan. This helps save different kinds of plants and animals and gives jobs to people who depend on the forest. To make this happen, the project will start three new groups in certain villages. They will also help the groups that are already there. They will plant trees, protect different plants and animals, and save water and land.
