The Indian diaspora is gearing up for a grand welcome for Prime Minister Modi under various community organizations and the Indian Consulate in Jeddah.
Udaipur, April 14, 2025: As per sources, the dates for the strategic visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been finalised. The Indian premier will visit the Middle Eastern country in the fourth week of April and will be in Jeddah on April 22. The Indian diaspora is gearing up for a grand welcome for Prime Minister Modi under various community organizations and the Indian Consulate in Jeddah. Reportedly, more than 15000 people have already registered for the event.
This visit, after 5 years, following up on the visit of the Saudi Crown Prince to India in 2023, entails enhancement of strategic ties, and bolster Saudi investments in India, as per sources. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud had visited India in September 2023, which helped in growing trade and investment relations between the two countries. Interestingly, the India-US Forum will be helld on April 21 in India. US Vice President, J.D. Vance is expected to be in India on a four-day trip, beginning April 21.
With Rice exports to Saudi accounting for about USD 1 Billion per annum, India is a strategic food security partner to Saudi. In 2023-24, two way trade was worth USD 43.3 Billion of which, Indian exports shared nearly USD 12 Billion, a growth of 7.8% in exports, as per the Hindustan Times. It is also being assumed that this upcoming interaction on April 22 will include deliberations on the Gaza situation and dialog to end the Hamas-Israel conflict as well as discussions on the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor (IMEC). Both sides will also look at taking forward the agreements done in 2023.
