Rang Sagar Lake Water Polluted

For several days, a drain carrying contaminated water has been flowing into Rang Sagar Lake, nestled within the larger Pichola Lake. Despite efforts to maintain cleanliness, both lakes are facing pollution issues due to the influx of dirt and contaminated water.

Former member of the Lake Development Authority, Tej Shankar Paliwal, highlighted that the drain flows either during the night or early morning, transporting contaminated water from nearby residences and hotels into Rang Sagar Lake.

Additionally, when fresh water enters Pichola Lake, it carries along garbage, exacerbating the pollution problem in Rang Sagar Lake. Although municipal contractors are removing floating garbage and plastic, their efforts fall short in achieving comprehensive lake cleanliness. Despite significant expenditure, amounting to crores, aimed at making Pichola Lake sewage-free, contaminated water continues to seep in daily. Unfortunately, the lake remains far from achieving the desired sewage-free status.

Authorities have been repeatedly informed about the drain's flow into Rang Sagar Lake. However, no significant actions have been taken to address the issue, indicating a lack of urgency in tackling the pollution problem.
