Feb 20, 2026 – The former Britain prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was released from custody after 11-12 hours of questioning at a Norfolk police station following his arrest on Thursday (February 19). The younger brother of King Charles III had been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office in connection with his links to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The police were reportedlyl acting on claims that Andrew shared confidential papers with Epstein while in office as the UK trade envoy.

Andrew was taken into custody by the Thames Valley Police who searched his residence, including two addresses in Norfolk and Berkshire. King Charles, who apparently had not received any prior information about the arrest, expressed "deepest concerns" over the arrest adding that “the law must take its course.”

Even after his release, investigations are continuing into the alleged link between Andrew and Epstein who was arrested in 2008 on charges of sex trafficking. In late 2025, the US Department of Justice released thousands of Epstein files which allegedly incriminate scores of high profile people all over the world.
