CVC has launched a dedicated whistle blower website VIGEYE.COM to battle corruption, the cvc commissioner P.J. Thomas has introduce the web portal on World Anti Corruption Day seminar on 10th of December 2010. The Seminar theme was ‘Empowering Citizens to combat corruption’
I presume the word “corruption” is the most commonly used word in India. In fact, India has grabbed 89th position in the list of Most Corrupt Countries out of 160 nations worldwide (source). It’s pretty acceptable quote by ex-Central Vigilance Commissioner Pratyush Sinha that almost one out of every three Indians are corrupt.
The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) – an apex anti-corruption statutory body of India has launched a dedicated whistle blower website VIGEYE.COM to battle corruption, the CVC commissioner P.J. Thomas has introduce the web portal on World Anti Corruption Day seminar on 10th of December 2010. The Seminar theme was ‘Empowering Citizens to combat corruption’
Project VIGEYE encourages citizens of India to come forward and join hands with CVC in fight against corruption. The site gives multiple options to file a complaint; a user can directly file any relevant complaint from his mobile phone, website or local landline phone.

Well, if I stick to the comment of Mr. Pratyush Sinha who said that 1 out of 3 Indians are corrupt then I am not sure how citizens of India will utilize the newest WikiLeaks style website VIGEYE?
The site is already been hit by more than 5000 visitors in 24 hrs and the easy user interface might attract more crowd to come up but still, CVC should first work on winning the trust of their expected users or they should get regular on facebook and twitter to monitor latest status updates, we generally prefer to blow whistle on social networks than any government run organization.
One interesting fact is that Central Vigilance Commissioner P.J. Thomas is accused of Palmolive oil import scam, which had reportedly caused over 2 Crores loss to government. – The Hindu
So guessing anything about project VIGEYE’s future will be too early, by the time we will keep smashing all our daily bhadaas and corruption experiences on socialnetworks.
