Rahul Gandhi Alleges '25 Lakh Fake Votes' in Haryana Assembly Polls

Nov 5, 2025 - Rahul Gandhi, Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha, has alleged "massive vote fraud in the Haryana Assembly polls", claiming that 25 lakh votes were fraudulent in an election with 2 crore voters. He implied that 12.5% of voters were fake.

Gandhi was addressing a press conference on Wednesday, November 5, just a day ahead of the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections. He claimed that his team had “100 per cent” proof that the 25 lakh voters were either non-existent, duplicate or manipulated.

"I am questioning the Election Commission and the democratic process in India, and I am doing this with 100 per cent proof. We are sure that a plan was put in motion to convert Congress's landslide victory into a loss," the Congress leader said.

He alleged discrepancies noted by Congress candidates post-election and claimed that all exit polls predicted a Congress victory, contrasting with the eventual BJP win.

Gandhi further said, "We have the word 'H' Files and this is about how an entire State has been stolen. We suspected that this is not happening in individual constituencies, but at the State level and at the national level."

He questioned the Election Commission and asserted that the postal voting results were atypical, demanding accountability in what he alleges was a premeditated plan to undermine Congress's expected victory.

Giving an example, the Congress leader shared that there were 22 entries in the Haryana voter list with a woman's photograph which he said was that of a Brazilian model. It appears 22 times in the voter list under different names, "Sweety, Seema, Saraswati", he claimed. The photograph, he added, can be downloaded for free from a website that deals in stock photos.

Meanwhile, the BJP has slammed Gandhi over his allegations. Rahul Gandhi “is in collusion with anti-India forces” and the “games he is playing will never succeed”, said Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, adding “It clearly shows there is nothing left for him in Bihar, so to divert attention, he is now bringing up the issue of Haryana. He has also made a presentation about irrelevant matters. I don’t want to go into that because it was all fake. He even mentioned the name of a foreign woman.”
