There are three categories for participation; grand winner will be awarded Rs 5 lakh prize; each category will have five consolation prizes worth Rs 50,000 each
May 2, 2025 - Indian Railways is set to standardise the design of digital clocks across all railway stations. To determine the new design, the Railway Board has launched a nationwide competition, inviting public participation. If your design is selected, you could win a prize of Rs 5 lakh.
There are three categories for participation - school students; college and university students and professionals. One grand winner will be selected across all three categories and awarded the Rs 5 lakh prize. Additionally, each category will have five consolation prizes worth Rs 50,000 each.
Participants must submit their designs online by May 31.
Currently, clocks at most railway stations vary in size and design. Some stations feature digital clocks, while others still use analogue ones. However, all clocks are synced with CRIS (Centre for Railway Information Systems) to display the same time.
According to Dilip Kumar, Executive Director (Information & Publicity), Railway Board, the purpose of the competition is to create a uniform design for digital clocks across all stations. These clocks will also reflect the ethos and aesthetic identity of Indian Railways, symbolising innovation and national pride.
The design must be original and high-resolution. Participants can submit more than one design, but each submission must include a certificate of originality. Designs must not violate the Copyright Act, nor should they include any watermark or logo.
Students must also attach a valid ID card with their submission. Entries must be emailed to: contest.pr@rb.railnet.gov.in
This creativity is under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme which is working on the redevelopment and modernisation of 1,337 stations nationwide. The plan is to install specially-designed digital clocks at 1,337 railway stations across the country. This initiative is in keeping with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of enhancing digital infrastructure.
