Today is the third consecutive day when clouds sprinkled over the city of lakes. However, Udaipur has received less rain this year as compared to the last year monsoon by this time of August. Heavy to medium rains have been reported in several areas of the city, mainly old city area was completely drenched due to heavy rainfall in the afternoon while suburbs also got wet with good rainfall.
Clouds had occupied most of the sky since morning; it was nearly at 11:45 when the city turned dark with drizzling which was closely followed by heavy rain. People were trapped and seen waiting in sheds, while many old city areas had problem of overflowing sewage which caused major problem.

Nearby rural areas of Udaipur have been receiving plenty of rain to aid water to lakes of the city. The small waterfalls and rivers from nearby Alsi Garh and Ubeshwar, that joins River Sisarma, which in turn fills Lake Pichola, have overflowed. On the other end, the gates of Madar Dam are open to supply water to Lake Fateh sagar. Gates of Lake Swaroop Sagar were also opened today for a few minutes as part of regular preparation for any emergency condition and this also helped to drain out unclean water from the lake. Lakes level are regularly rising from past few days, making close the most thrilling moment to see our lakes overflowing with water. Overflow at Fateh Sagar popularly known as FS among youth is considered as the climax of excitement for Udaipurites. According to the Irrigation Department, in the past 24 hours (from 8 am of 25
th Aug to 8 am of 26
th Aug) Udaipur city has received 425 mm of rain. The highest amount of rain is received in Som pickupwear (1086mm) whereas a little less is received at Kotra (675mm), Salumber (667mm), Jaisamand (655mm), Som kagdar (613mm), Udaisagar (615mm) and Semari (611mm).
