Excessive rainfall has resulted in the destruction of around 10 varieties of crops. As per reports, almost 100 percent destruction has been faced and maize crop is the most affected produce. Around 35000 hectares of land had crops and 80 to 100 percent destruction has been analysed in areas of Mavli, Bhinder, Sarada, Vallabhnagar, Lasadia and Kotda. The other crops suffering the damage are jwar, bajra, urad, gwar, moong, soyabean, til and cotton.

It has been informed that Department of Agriculture conducts a survey about the insurance funds and the Department of Revenue surveys the emergency situations. If the farmer’s crop is insured to the extent of 80% , he is compensated on the basis of loss.

As informed by the Regional research director of MPUT, the crops are extensively damaged. The maize crop has started sprouting since the fields are flooded with water and the crop hasn’t received abundant sunlight.
