Udaipur, 24 January 2025 – The Forest Department will carry out a bird count across the state from January 28 to February 2, 2025. This annual event aims to track bird populations at various ponds and water bodies.
In previous years, the count was done only at four ponds. However, last year, the birds shifted to different locations, prompting the department to expand the count this time. For 2025, the count will include Bamaniya Balaji Pond, Ramsar, and Jhadol Ponds in addition to the traditional sites.
Ajmer's District Forest Officer (DFO), Sugna Ram Jat, mentioned that apart from the well-known ponds like Anasagar Lake, Jawaja Ka Talab, Gundolav Kishangarh, and Pushkar, the count will now also be carried out at new locations. This extended effort is aimed at better understanding the bird migration patterns and their habitats.
