Pakistani nationals in India on Long Term Visas not required to leave the country, as per a new directive of the Centre
May 1, 2025 - Following the Central Government’s directive ensuring deportation of all Pakistani nationals present in India, security agencies in Rajasthan have deported 129 of the 400 Pakistani nationals residing in the State. Official sources put the figure of those sent back by April 27 as 109 and an additional 20 leaving on April 28.
However, according to sources, several others are currently untraceable and efforts are on to locate them.
The Central Government directive had come on the heels of the Pahalgam attack in which terrorists opened fire on tourists killing 26 people in Baisaran meadow on April 22.
Meanwhile, the Home Affairs Ministry has revised the guidelines for deporting Pakistani nationals and directed that those on Long Term Visas (LTVs) need not be told to leave the country. This new guideline has provided some relief to those living in India legally.
Official sources said on April 29 that as many as 841 Pakistani minority citizens have applied for LTVs in Rajasthan.
Meanwhile, as per another fresh directive from the Indian government, the deadline for Pakistani nationals to exit India to go into Pakistan from Integrated Check Post at Attari has been relaxed till further orders and with due clearances. Earlier, the government had said the Pakistan citizens would have to leave India by April 30. This revision, as per sources, was taken on humanitarian grounds after requests from the Pakistani citizens.
