-After various complaints from the consumers, Rajasthan discom has decided on the compensation rule.

-Compensation will also be provided if high voltage causes equipments to burn.

Rajasthan discom will now be compensating the consumers if they face a power cut that exceeds 4 hours. Compensation will also be provided if the equipments get burnt due to high voltage. The above decision is valid for the consumers within city limits falling under Jaipur, Jodhpur and Ajmer discom.

As per the decision, the consumers will be reimbursed 75 rupees if the power failure exceeds 4 hours. This decision was taken after the department received several complaints of uninterrupted power cuts. As per the reimbursement rules, the compensation will be provided in the next electricity bill received by the consumers. 75 rupees will be deducted from the bill to be paid or will be paid to the consumer by the discom.

Many complaints were also sent to the electricity department regarding burning of equipments due to sudden high voltage. The discom has stated that consumers will be compensated for this situation as well. 500 rupees for equipments like fans, black and white TV and mixie, 1000 rupees for color TV, semi-automatic washing machine and fridge and 2000 rupees for fully automatic washing machine and computer have been decided as compensation amounts.

Though complaint resolution committees already exist on XEN, SE and CE levels, yet a 5-forum committee will be formed to strengthen and assist the teams in resolving the complaints. Committees at sub-division, division, circle, zonal and corporate levels will be formed wherein complaints amounting  to 5,000 rupees , 20,000 rupees, 50,000 rupees and 5 lakh rupees will be taken care of. Zonal and corporate committees will have 3 members each.

Complaints like damage of over head lines, underground cables, transformers, meter testing, meter line shifting, new connections and name changes in the electricity bills will be dealt at different levels.
