Udaipur, May 28, 2026 | Rajasthan News Updates: 77 road construction and upgradation projects worth ₹676.74 Crore across Rajasthan have been approved by the states Public Works Department (PWD).

The approval comes as part of the Budget 2026-27 announcements, with the Rajasthan government moving ahead on promises to strengthen the state's road network. According to the Public Works Department (PWD), nearly 686.42 kilometres of roads will be constructed, widened, repaired, or strengthened under these projects. This promises to bring the much-needed relief and better connectivity to people across 33 districts of Rajasthan.

Better Commute and Connectivity

This project will result in safer journeys for thousands of people, especially in rural and semi-urban areas, who travel daily on worn-out roads> Travel time will reduce, nearby towns and cities will be easily accessible promoting migration for work and uplifting the economy of the rural belts. Whether it is students travelling to colleges, farmers transporting produce, or families commuting for work and healthcare — better roads will change everyday life.

The benefits will reach several districts including Udaipur, Ajmer, Jodhpur, Bharatpur, Sikar, Sri Ganganagar, Nagaur, Churu, Pali, Dungarpur, Salumber, Sirohi, Karauli, Bundi, and many more.

For regions like Udaipur and nearby tribal belts, improved roads could play a bigger role than just convenience. Better connectivity often opens doors to tourism, local business growth, education, healthcare access, and employment opportunities. In many places, a good road is often the first sign of faster development reaching the area.

Enhancing Connectivity in Rural Areas

The projects will cover state highways, major district roads, local roads, and rural routes, focusing not just on cities but also on villages and remote areas where road connectivity often becomes a challenge, especially during monsoons.

The Rajasthan government, has placed strong focus on infrastructure in this year’s budget. The approval of these 77 projects reflects an effort to improve road access from village interiors to district headquarters — something people across Rajasthan have long hoped to see improve.

Tourism Factor

As Rajasthan tourism moves from cities to rural and semi urban areas, the development and enhancement of the road network will add a lot of potential to eco-tourism across the state, as it will facilitate quicker commute for tourists.

As these projects begin taking shape, many across the state will now be watching with hope that the promised roads are completed on time and bring the real change people have been waiting for.
