PM Modi stated in his speech at the 'Jaipur Maha Khel' closing ceremony that Rajasthan's youths participation in sports has greatly benefited their physical and mental growth. In reference to 2023 being designated as the International Year of Nutritious Cereals by the UN, Modi stated, "Rajasthan has a long heritage of millets. The state's symbols are Shri Anna-Bajra and Shri Anna-Jowar.

The competition began on January 12, 2023, and more than 6,400 sports persons from more than 450 gram panchayats, municipalities, and wards from all eight assembly constituencies of Jaipur Rural competed.

The PM recalls eating millet churma and porridge and urged the young to not only eat more Shri Anna (millets) but also to represent the product as a brand ambassador.

"Traditional sports like dada, sitolia and rumal jhapatta, which are held during Makar Sankranti and have been a part of the traditions of Rajasthan for hundreds of years, have shaped the mental and physical abilities of the youth of the region.” - PM Modi
