In view of the controlled COVID infection rates, the Rajasthan government seems to be considering relaxing the lockdown timings. Taking the case of Udaipur, for example, the district has come down to near zero numbers since the surge in March. This weekend just may be the best time to ease the curfew and related restrictions, but caution needs to take the top spot. The rate of infection in the whole state is also below 3% and is regarded as a state of control according to the Ministry of Health and the WHO.
The Rajasthan Government had imposed the previous weekend curfew till 5am Monday in light of the strictness of the COVID Guidelines. During the recent video conference, it was suggested that the weekend curfew be abolished. Some experts discussed reducing lockdown limits for 2 weeks. Along with relaxation, however, the experts have also advised the public to follow the COVID guidelines in spirit and get vaccinations done as quickly as the slots allow.
Removal of the lockdown over the weekend can be discussed next week, according to sources. With the daily consolidated cases in the state coming down to 500 and the total active cases being 8,400 across the state, the government is likely to issue a new proposal next week on removing the weekend curfew. In addition, the public transport service, which is currently only operating within the state, can also be initiated in other states.
