The Rajasthan High Court has directed forest authorities to seize illegal constructions in the tiger habitat
With the start of the new tourism season at Ranthambore National Park, irregularities have once again come to light. On Wednesday, October 2,2024 an issue arose regarding the issuance of closed tourism tickets.
The Forest Department had booked five Indian tourists for Zone 3 during the morning shift on October 1 under the current online quota for a canter. When the incident became public, protests followed, and the Forest Department quickly took action by cancelling the booking.
Illegal Construction in the Tiger Habitat
Meanwhile, the Rajasthan High Court has directed forest authorities to seize illegal constructions in the tiger habitat. The court expressed concern over ongoing encroachments in Ranthambore's critical tiger zone and ordered immediate cooperation from the police and district administration. Justice Sameer Jain, while hearing a petition, highlighted the need for urgent action to protect the area from commercial constructions, which pose a threat to wildlife.
Ajay Pratap Singh, counsel for the petitioner, mentioned that illegal guest house constructions are ongoing in the critical tiger habitat, calling for their immediate halt and proper investigation.
