In a recent discovery, a rare monkey species was rescued in a village of Kodiyat, Udaipur. This species is not native to the region, marking the first time it has been rescued from here.

The rescue team, led by Dharmendra Panigar, initially identified the monkey as a Rhesus Macaque, a common species with a red face. However, further examination revealed it to be a Bonnet Macaque, which is not found in Rajasthan. Wildlife expert Anil Rodgers confirmed that this species is typically found in South India.

Retired Forest Officer of Rajasthan Forest Services. Dr. Satish Sharma suggested that the monkey might have been transported from South India by a truck driver. It is possible that individuals release these animals due to concerns about forest department and police enforcement.
