June 5, 2025 - A tragic stampede broke out yesterday, June 4, outside M Chinnaswamy Stadium during the celebration event for the new IPL champions, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). So far, 11 people have died and 47 others reported injured in this unfortunate incident.
The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), which had organised the event, is facing harsh criticism over the poor crowd management, for poor planning and negligence.
In response, KSCA has announced compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the families of those who lost their lives in the accident. The association has also expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and those who were injured.
Event Stopped After Stampede
RCB has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the stampede. In a statement, the team said the event was stopped immediately after the news of the accident came in.
RCB said, “We are very saddened by the news of the accident, which we came to know through media reports. Large crowds had gathered at many places across Bengaluru after hearing about the team’s arrival. For us, the safety of everyone is most important. RCB expresses its condolences to the deceased and their families.”
The statement also added, “As soon as we were informed about the situation, we made changes to our event and followed the instructions given by the local administration.”
