Relatives Express Anger as No Relief for Flood affected Pilgrims

Concerned for the safety of pilgrims who are stuck in flood ridden Uttranchal, their relatives demonstrated outside collector’s office and demanded speedy rescue operation. According to protesters, around 73 pilgrims of Udaipur belonging to Audichya and Choubisa communities are stuck near Gaurikund.

“No relief or rescue mission has been conducted in more than 72 hours, however local administration has assured us that the pilgrims will be pulled out from danger areas in next 24 hours”, said one of the protesters.

45 people of Audichya community and 28 of Choubisa community are trapped due to bridge collapse near Gaurikund.

The relatives of the pilgrims said that Rajasthan government should not rely on Uttranchal Government and execute State’s rescue operation team to reach the place of calamity.

Millions of pilgrims observe the holy pilgrimage of Chardham (Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamnotri) in Uttranchal.
