Charging Rs.5 extra than the actual MRP has put the popular retail chain Reliance Fresh in trouble when the consumer court has asked them to pay Rs.2500 to the customer as compensation.

The customer Dr Kunjan Acharya, assistant professor of Journalism at MLSU approached Consumer Court when no satisfactory reply received by Reliance authority.

According to Dr Acharya, on 1^st Oct 2014, he did shopping from Reliance Fresh sector 3, out of many things Acharya also bought a packet of pencil. After reaching home when he saw the bill, he noticed that the store charged him Rs.5 extra on a pencil which was MRP 45 but the store charged him Rs.50.

Acharya complained to the store but there was no positive response. Finally he approached consumer court under the guidance of Advocate Pramod Jhanvar. The company representative confessed the mistake on their part and agreed to pay Rs.2500 to Dr Kunjan Acharya as compensation.
