Reliance Fresh has been directed by the consumer forum to compensate for the reduction in discount and also pay for mental agony caused to the consumer. A man filed a complaint against Reliance Fresh at Sector 3 Hiranmagri in 2018.
As per the complaint, Ashish of Sector 4 in Hiranmagri bought some chocolates along with some other things in August 2017. He bought 13 packets of Cadbury Celebration Chocolate which had a discount of 10 percent mentioned on the packs. Ashish complained that when he checked the bill at home, he found that the entire discount was not provided to him. Instead of the discount of 60 rupees, he was given a discount of 48 rupees. When he went back to Reliance Fresh to enquire about the same, he was not given a satisfactory response.
The company advocate stating on behalf of Reliance Fresh said that there was no complaint brought forward by the appellant. He also said that had the appellant approached Reliance Fresh within 2 to 3 days, the issue would have been resolved.
The consumer forum after studying the issue deeply directed that Reliance Fresh must be penalised and the consumer must be paid 4012 rupees within 2 months wherein 2000 rupees is against court fee, 2000 rupees agaisnt mental agony and 12 rupees which was part of the discount.
