News has come to light about CCTV cameras in women’s room in a camp in Bhilwara. As per sources, female teachers have complained about CCTV cameras being active in rooms during a camp organised for teachers in Bhilwara.

Reportedly, female teachers from Udaipur who were staying in 2 rooms in Bhilwara’s government school during a camp noticed cameras in the rooms. When they opposed this, camp in charge served an alibi saying that the cameras were not active during this period. Teachers claim that they saw lights blinking in the camera at night. When the camp in charge Ashok Kumar was asked to show the camera footage, he went to the extent of deleting the footage for 16^th and 17^th May. After this, the cameras were covered with paper sheets. There was enough show down at the camp site following this incident.

Rajasthan Teachers and Panchayati Raj Employee Association’s Vice President has taken up the matter with Women’s Commission. In his complaint letter he wrote that privacy of females has been fiddled with because of CCTV cameras. No authoritative person stays in the camp apart from the trainees. The matter is of negligence and must be dealt with strictly.

Female teachers even complained that there were no bath room facilities available in the camp and that they had to fill water from the wash basin for bathing purposes. Drinking water used to be supplied as late as 11 a.m. There have been complaints that the camp site is far from the city for they had to cross a 3 kilometre long kachcha road. There is no provision for medical facility in times of need. They demanded that such camps must be held in home towns and not at distant areas.
