Udaipur, February 6, 2025 - The parents of the doctor who was brutally raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital have called for a protest on her birthday, February 9, 2025. They are urging people to “hit the streets” against the delay in justice. She thanked everyone who has supported their fight for justice since the incident happened on August 9, 2024.

Sanjay Roy, the convict in the case, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Sealdah Court on January 20, 2025. However, the victim’s parents believe that he should have been given the death penalty.

The victim’s mother expressed her disappointment, saying, “I do not agree with the judge’s decision. My daughter was on duty in a government hospital, and this should have been considered a ‘rarest of the rare’ case. The CBI failed to prove it.”

They have appealed to all hospital workers, both in government and private hospitals, to light lamps in her memory. The mother also requested people to plant flowers at their homes and workplaces, as her daughter loved flowers.
