CM Announces Over Rs 35 Lakh Cr MoUs at Rising Rajasthan Opening

Prime Minister inaugurates the Investment Summit in Jaipur; top industrialists from around the world attend the three-day event

December 10, 2024 - Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the three-day Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit yesterday at the Jaipur Exhibition Convention Centre (JECC) in the presence of several dignitaries from all over the word.

At the opening, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma announced that MoUs worth Rs 35 lakh crores had already been signed with the summit just getting underway. This is being looked at as the largest figure ever for investment summits in Indian States. CM Sharma said that sectors such as minerals, petroleum, automobiles, textiles, tourism, education, and healthcare offer excellent investment opportunities in Rajasthan.

In his inaugural speech, the Prime Minister described Rajasthan as Triple R signifying it is not only rising but also “reliable”, "receptive” and knows how to “refine” itself over time. He added that Rajasthan is not only skilled at facing challenges but also at creating new opportunities and elaborated on the State's strengths and areas for investment.

Several prominent industrialists from all over the country were present at the opening session of the summit. Representatives from 32 countries around the world and investors from across the country were there to draw global attention to Rajasthan's traditional arts and small industries. Leading industrialists included Vedanta Group chairman Anil Agarwal, Aditya Birla Group chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla, Mahindra and Mahindra chairperson Anand Mahindra and Adani Ports Managing Director Karan Adani. They addressed the gathering providing details of their groups’ current and future investments in Rajasthan. Government attendees included Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa, RIICO chairman Ajitabh Sharma and other officials.

Speaking to the guests present, PM Modi said that India has embarked on a new journey towards an Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-reliant India) with a global vision and impact. He mentioned that the government is working on a Whole-of-Government-Approach (WGA), a collaborative strategy to promote industrial progress by giving a unified boost to every sector and factor and together providing solutions.

Later, at an exhibition, PM Modi showed particular interest in Rajasthan's traditional Sanganer print, its process and products. He spoke with the artists and tried his hand at printing a design.
