Senior Resident Doctors vacancies persist despite appointments in Rajasthan Medical Colleges...
In a continuing challenge for RNT Medical College, the issue of vacant professorial positions remains unresolved, leading to significant gaps in leadership despite adequate facilities and resources. Senior residents (SRs) are reportedly unwilling to undertake roles within the college hospitals.
Shortage Despite Appointments
Recently, the Medical Education Department of Rajasthan appointed senior residents for a three-year term across the state's medical colleges. However, RNT Medical College continues to face shortages in key positions such as professors, associate professors, and assistant professors across various departments. This shortfall has deterred senior residents doctors from accepting postings in Udaipur.
Department Vacancies
The departments like Medical Oncology, Oncosurgery, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Surgical Branch, Gastrointestinal, Neurosurgery, Neurology, Pediatric Surgery, and Plastic Surgery have yet to see any senior resident appointments.
Out of a total of 48 available positions, 24 senior resident positions remain unfilled at RNT Medical College. However, the college has successfully filled 20 senior resident positions and 4 assistant professor positions where subject specialists were available.
Addressing the urgency, the college principal issued appointment orders for 24 senior residents on July 3, 2024. These appointees will receive a monthly salary of Rs 85,000/- in their first year, increasing to Rs 90,000/- in the second year.
