For the development of Udaipur's infrastructure, the ambitious plans outlined in the city's master plan for the construction of Ring Road, internal and external link roads, and approach roads to surrounding villages have been stopped. Despite a budget allocation of Rs 50 crore in 2020 by the then Gehlot government, authorities failed to utilize the funds for their intended purpose.

The master plan, spanning from 2013 to 2031, encompassed 136 villages surrounding Udaipur. However, the road development projects for these areas, as well as maintenance of existing roads, have been left unattended due to the lapse in fund utilization.

Specifically, roads leading to distant parts of the city are in dire need of maintenance and development. To address the escalating issue of daily traffic jams, proposals for elevated roads have been put forth. Notable among these is the proposed elevated road from the railway station to the collector's residence. Additionally, urgent measures to widen key roads such as Badgaon, Bedla and Bhuvana Road have been emphasized.

The failure to implement these plans has raised concerns among citizens about the efficiency of relevant agencies and their commitment to the city's development. As Udaipur grapples with traffic congestion and road conditions, the call for immediate action on the allocated budget and execution of the master plan has become more pressing than ever.

These roads need to be widened

  • Badgaon Road needs to be widened to a hundred feet.
  • Bedla Road needs to be widened to a hundred feet.
  • Bhuvana Road needs to be widened.
