Pratapnagar and Balicha Bypass

The ongoing construction of an 11.5-kilometer road between Pratap Nagar Overbridge and Balicha Bypass is creating daily challenges for drivers. The focus is currently on building dividers before improving the road and its edges. However, poor planning is leading to frequent traffic jams and accidents due to inadequate signages in diverted traffic areas.

The issues are particularly severe at key locations, including the railway bridge, Geetanjali Bridge, Girija Vyas Petrol Pump, and Savina Highway. Vehicles entering the second lane are causing difficulties for oncoming drivers.

UDA Engineers Being Unresponsive

On around 30% of the four-lane stretch, one side of the road is 1 to 1.5 feet higher or lower than the other. Large potholes are forcing vehicles to navigate carefully when crossing from one road to another through the dividers. Small mistakes can result in serious problems. The situation is worsened by large vehicles using this road to avoid tolls on the Kaya Bypass. Despite these issues, the UDA engineers have been unresponsive. They claim that only the UDA Commissioner can provide details about the road, but the Commissioner has not addressed the matter.

Kaya Bypass Project

The NHAI Kaya Bypass project, intended to alleviate these problems, is also facing delays. The project started four months late, with the UDA issuing the work order on September 29, 2023, and beginning construction on December 10, 2023. The Rs 7.32 crore project aims to widen the bypass to 19.20 meters and convert it into a four-lane road. The original tender, issued on March 1, 2023, was canceled due to technical issues. A new tender was issued in August 2023, and the work is being carried out by Bharti Construction from Banswara.
