Training program on road safety awareness was organized in Rajasthan College of Agriculture (RCA), Udaipur on 3rd Feb during NSS Week. Training was coordinated by Kezar Ali Shah, GM (Environment & Safety) Wonder Cement Ltd.
He shared his experience of traffic training received through driving license process during his stay in Canada. He compared traffic system of western countries with system of India. He explained that reason of high rate of accidents in India is due to lack of knowledge of traffic rules among drivers.
He informed, “Fear of losing driving license makes people in western countries a perfect driver. Driving License is issued in developing countries without any training of traffic rules and without strict driving tests. Poor implementation of traffic laws on road is another reason for traffic deaths.”
He presented global accident statistics published in WHO report. With only 1% of world’s vehicle population in India, deaths due to accidents are 10 % of total road accidents deaths per annum in the world.
He requested all participant students to use helmets, seat belts, to control speed and to avoid alcohol consumption during driving. He requested young students to drive safe to avoid serious/fatal injuries in road crashes. Professor Arvind Verma (Soil Science), Dr. Meena and Dr. Biarathi, in charge NSS program of RCA Udaipur were also present in the program.
