Road Side Hutments to be shifted: Dist. CollectorHemant Gera, District Collector Udaipur, has passed orders today to shift families dwelling on the road sides to safe places. Hemant Ghera said “we have identified 26 accident prone areas across the city and have instructed the Highway Authorities to rectify technical problems related to the same.
The City Administration is taking measures to shift encroachment on busy roads connecting to highways in Udaipur. This step has been initiated subsequent to the recent mishap where one person died whereas two were critically injured following an accident in such an area. According to the Government regulations, all highways or roads connecting to highways should not have any residential or commercial construction within a 50 feet area on both sides of the road. “We have decided in the Traffic Committee meeting to move the families or businesses dwelling on such road sides” said Hemant Gera. It has been seen that Gaduliya Lohar (cast) have been regularly settling in various areas by the road side. Some such encroachments can be commonly observed at Fatehpura, Shukhadiya Circle, Bhuwana, etc. and some among them are already living in such places for more than 10 years.
