Robbery in Town Hall branch of PNB
A man robbed off a lot of amount in bank premises.
Wednesday afternoon turned out to be nightmare for a person who was robbed off 2.5 lakh rupees in the premises of Punjab National Bank, Town Hall branch. It has been reported that police did not take strict action in spite of the report lodged by the victim.
This episode of robbery has turned out to be the fourth report of similar nature in Surajpole police station. As reported by Gaurav, he went to PNB during afternoon to deposit the amount collected from 6 wine stores of the town. It was a huge amount of 10 lakh rupees in 367 notes. While he was in queue in front of cash counter, he realised that the date entered on the cash slip was wrong. He moved aside to make corrections. Three youth who were present in the bank approached him and asked about the system of filling in bank slip.
These three youth involved him in a number of questions and managed to steal 117 notes from the bag. Gaurav did not even realise that he was being robbed off by the youth. When he turned to the cash counter later for depositing the amount, he was informed that there was a gross difference in the amount entered in the slip and the amount he gave for depositing. Now realising that he had been duped, Gaurav rang up his employer and narrated the incident to him.
Police reached the bank and checked the CCTV footage but the faces of the 3 youth could not be seen as the quality of camera was not good. After this police even checked the CCTV footage of Bank of Baroda where these 3 youth could be seen. Estimated age of these men is around 35 to 40 years. Wine store has accused police for not taking quick and strict action in this matter.
