Rs 589.77 Cr Udaipur Nigam Budget: Focus on Roads, Parking, Clean Air & Development
This year's Budget focusseson overall city development, beautification and expansion of basic infrastructure in newly-included areas within the municipal limits
Udaipur, March 31, 2026 - The annual budget of the Udaipur Nagar Nigam for the financial year 2026-27 was approved under the chairmanship of Nigam Administrator Pragya Kevalramani. During the meeting, Nigam Commissioner Abhishek Khanna, Superintending Engineer Manish Arora, Accounts Officer Babulal Banjara, Assistant Accounts Officer Dilip Singh Chauhan, Jagdish Salvi, Executive Engineers Akhil Goyal, Ritesh Patidar, Lakhan Lal Bairwa, Health Officer Satyanarayan Sharma, Establishment In-charge Devendra Singh Rathore and others were present.
This year, the Nagar Nigam presented a significant budget of Rs 589.77 crore, with a strong focus on overall city development, beautification and expansion of basic infrastructure in newly-included areas within the municipal limits.
Nigam Commissioner Khanna said that owing to the corporation’s efforts, positive results have been achieved in increasing revenue this year. Last year, the State Government had set a target of Rs 20 crore for urban development tax collection, against which the corporation achieved 105% of the target. Accordingly, the target for UD tax collection for the year 2026–27 has been increased to Rs 22.5 crore.
Corporation Revenue to Increase Through Various Sources
Commissioner Khanna informed that to boost revenue, a target of Rs 10 crore has been set through the auction of land assets. Additionally, Rs 45 crore worth of development works will be carried out through funds received from the State Finance Commission, Central Finance Commission and other grants. Another Rs 20 crore will be spent on capital works under the DMFT fund.
Rs 100 Crore to Be Spent on Elevated Road
Several important provisions have been made in the Budget to strengthen the city’s infrastructure. Rs 100 crore will be spent on the under-construction elevated road project in 2026–27, of which Rs 50 crore will be received from the Udaipur Development Authority. Under the ABD project, Rs 20 crore has been allocated for the operation and maintenance of sewerage lines, with Rs 3 crore to be spent annually.
Special Focus on Newly Included Areas
The Commissioner emphasised special focus on newly-included areas within the Nigam limits in the 2026–27 Budget. Separate plans have been prepared to enhance basic amenities in these areas. After the expansion of municipal boundaries, Rs 10 crore has been allocated for infrastructure development in newly included gram panchayat areas. Additionally, Rs 10 crore has been set aside for new road construction and Rs 1 crore for road development in slum areas.
Overhead Wires to Be Made Underground
To enhance the beauty of Udaipur city, special attention has been given to moving the overhead electrical wires below the ground. A budget of Rs 5 crore has been allocated for laying underground electric cables.
New Parking Facilities to Be Developed
To provide better parking facilities for tourists visiting Udaipur, provisions have been made to develop new parking spaces at major locations across the city. Rs 3 crore has been allocated to address parking issues.
National Clean Air Programme
To ensure clean air for residents, approximately Rs 8.24 crore will be spent under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP). Cement blocks will be installed along roads under this initiative.
Development Works in City Parks
Rs 2 crore has been allocated for the development and beautification of Gulab Bagh, a major attraction for both residents and tourists. Thousands of people visit the park daily. Additionally, Rs 5 crore has been allocated for the development of other parks. Maintenance of 79 subsidised parks will be supported with a grant of Rs 50 lakh to local committees.
Rs 6.8 Crore for Door-to-Door Garbage Collection
To strengthen the city’s cleanliness system, Rs 6.80 crore has been allocated for door-to-door garbage collection. Public participation will be ensured through Rs 3 crore in user charges. Rs 3.99 crore will be spent on cleaning work under deposit works, which will be reimbursed by the Udaipur Development Authority.
Other Key Works
Under the budget, Rs 12 crore will be spent on drainage maintenance to strengthen the city’s water drainage system. Rs 3 crore has been allocated for maintenance of old sewerage lines, Rs 3.50 crore for the corporation-run gaushala, Rs 2 crore for street light maintenance and Rs 6.39 crore for their operation and upkeep. Additionally, Rs 2 crore has been allocated for the construction and renovation of crematoriums.
Administrator Kevalramani said this Budget will prove to be a strong step towards sustainable development, improved infrastructure, better cleanliness, environmental protection and beautification of the city. It will not only provide better facilities to residents but also contribute significantly to developing Udaipur into a modern and well-organised city.
