Udaipur, March 24, 2025: The clamp down on erring vehicles by the Udaipur RTO is continuing on a massive scale. The RTO officials across Udaipur division are seizing commercial vehicles that have not paid their taxes, those not having valid permits, not having passed fitness tests, found overloading, overcrowding among other defaults.
Seized Passenger and Commercial Vehicles
On March 22 and 23, 210 vehicles were seized by 15 flying squads, and 658 Challans were issued, culminating in over Rs. 25 Lakh being recovered as fees and penalties across various districts in the Udaipur division This comes after the Udaipur RTO had given enough time to vehicle owners to deposit advance taxe, renew their licenses, permits and registrations. The seized vehicles, which inncluded both passenger and heavy load commercial vehicles were parked at the nearby police stations or in the departments seizure yards. Regional Transport Officer, Gyandev Vishwakarma informed that these 15 flying squads have been working day and night over the past two days in Udaipur, Salumber, Dungarpur, Banswara and Rajsamand district, and pulling up vehicles that are suspect or otherwise.
On March 24, these flying squads seized another 327 vehicles, issued 522 Challans, collecting Rs 15 Lakh in departmental and state revenue.
40 Loading Vehicles Seized from RSMM Mines
On March 24, the RTO officials led by Additional RTO Nanjiram Gulsar and DTO Nitin Bohra, accompanied by their department team, reached the RSMM Mines at Jhamarkotda. On inspection of the documents, they found 29 vehicles with Rajasthan registration plates and 10 commercial vehicles bearing the number plates of other states, that had not deposited their due taxes to the Rajasthan government. Rs 25 Lakh was collected from the erring vehicle owners.
Revenue Targets Achieved
Over the last few days, the RTO teams from across all districts in Udaipur division have come together under the directions of Additional Transport Commissioner Nidhi Singh. Nidhi Singh has been supervising the receipts against revenue targets allocated to Udaipur division and reviewing enforcement works. She has asked the officials to work tirelessly towards achieving the departmental targets. RTO Gyandev Vishkarma informed media that aas of the end of day on March 24, 82% of the allotted target for Udaipur division has been achieved.
Stringent Action Against Defaulters
While appealing to the vehicle owners to deposit all outstanding taxes and fees online to avoid vehicle seizure, permit and registration suspension in the coming days, the RTO has instructed the teams of the 15 flying squads to show no leniency on erring vehicle owners. He has directed the subordinate District Transport Officers and in-charges of the various flying squads to collect the taxes with interest and penalties. He also instructed them to issue challans against the erring vehicles by adding violation of permit conditions, so that the owners have to pay an additional Rs 10,000 in fines.
