Sadhna comes under Fair Trade India Brand
Women’s Handicrafts Enterprise, Sadhna, became the 23rd shop coming under Fair Trade India Brand yesterday. It was declared ‘Sadhna Fair Trade India’ in a ceremony organized at its showroom at Jagdish Chowk.
Women’s Handicrafts Enterprise, Sadhna, became the 23rd shop coming under Fair Trade India Brand yesterday. It was declared ‘Sadhna Fair Trade India’ in a ceremony organized at its showroom at Jagdish Chowk.
On the occasion, Chief Conductor of Sadhna Leela Vijayvargiya, craftsmen and workers of the Sadhna were present.
The Fair Trade India branding initiative is being taken up with the support of the European Union and HIVOS under the ProSustain project. Fair Trade Forum works for gender equality, ban of child labor, rights of craftsmen etc.
“Fair Trade India” branded shops will join the family of other Fair Trade shop networks such as “World Shops” which have become the synonym for “Fair and Exploitation-free Consumption” in Europe.
Sadhna is a unit of Seva Mandir, an Udaipur based NGO. Established in 1988, Sadhna is registered under the Mutual Benefit Trust Act and works for the upliftment of the standard of women in rural, tribal and urban slum areas of southern Rajasthan and to provide them resources to earn independently.
