Fish Mortality

The Pollution Control Board issued its report on Friday June 30, 2023 regarding the unfortunate incident of the death of a number of fish in Fatehsagar lake. The report confirms that there are no traces of petrol or diesel in the lake's water, indicating that it is clean and safe. Additionally, the report has bolstered the claims made by the Fisheries Department, lake enthusiasts, and the contractor involved in the incident. According to them, the fish mortality occurred due to injuries and the effects of heat during their transportation from Kapasan to Fatehsagar lake.

As stated in the Pollution Control Board's report, the water of the lake has been confirmed to be completely clean. Sharad Saxena, the regional officer Udaipur, further emphasized that the lake's oxygen levels are satisfactory.

On Saturday 24 June, 2023 morning numerous deceased fish were discovered within the lake. Observing this distressing scene, Tejshankar Paliwal, an ardent lake enthusiast, promptly visited the site to assess the situation firsthand. Tej Shankar Paliwal, a lake enthusiast, expressed his contentment with the absence of pollution in the water. However, he emphasized the importance of exercising caution during fish stocking activities. Paliwal suggested that such operations should be carried out under the supervision of experts to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. It is worth noting that on the previous Friday and Saturday, the contractor transported a total of 4 lakh fish from Kapasan and the fish found dead on Sunday.
