The Election Commission of India has released the schedule for by-elections in various states, including seven assembly seats in Rajasthan. Salumber is one of the constituencies where elections will be held.
The nomination process will start on October 18, 2024. Voting is scheduled for November 13, and the counting of votes will take place on November 23. With this announcement, the Model Code of Conduct has been implemented in the Salumber region.
District Election Officer Arvind Poswal and Deputy District Election Officer Deependra Singh Rathore held meetings with political party representatives and media on October 15, 2024. During the meeting at the District Collectorate, Rathore shared details of the election schedule and the latest guidelines from the Election Commission. He also informed that the Udaipur District Collector will oversee the election process, while the Sub-Divisional Officer of Salumber will be the Returning Officer. All nominations will be handled at the Salumber Returning Officer's office, and the Model Code of Conduct will remain in force throughout the Salumber district.
Nomination Process for Salumber By-Election Starts on October 18
The Deputy District Election Officer announced that the nomination process for the Salumber by-election will begin on October 18, 2024. The last date to file nominations is October 25. Nominations will be checked on October 28, and candidates can withdraw their nominations until October 30. Voting will be held on November 13 at 296 main polling stations and 6 auxiliary stations in the Salumber constituency. The vote counting will take place on November 23 at the Udaipur district headquarters.
Over 2.97 Lakh Voters to Vote
Rathore informed that more than 2.97 lakh voters can vote in the Salumber by-election. This includes 151,394 male voters and 146,251 female voters. Voter registrations will be accepted until 10 days before the last date of nomination.
Model Code of Conduct in Effect
To ensure the Model Code of Conduct is followed, teams are now active in the Salumber district. Within 24 hours of the code being implemented, photos of public representatives and posters of government schemes have been removed from government offices. Monitoring teams are working with the local administration to remove hoardings from public places like bus stands within 48 hours, and from private places within 72 hours. A report will be sent to the Election Commission.
