A case of sandalwood tree theft has emerged again in Gulab Bagh. Between 3:00 to 4:00 a.m. on July 17, 8 to 10 masked miscreants entered the park and held two guards hostage at sword-point. They then cut down two sandalwood trees. Inspector Sunil Charan stated that the miscreants entered through the Khanjipeer route.

The branches of the trees were left at the scene. The miscreants removed the trunks and took the guards towards the Khanjipeer route. They abandoned the guards there and fled with the trunks.

Some people who came for a morning walk were informed about the incident by the guards. Upon receiving the information, Surajpol police arrived at the scene and conducted an inspection.

The police are currently searching for the suspects based on footage from nearby CCTV cameras.
