A new community service project dedicated to the senior citizens by the Rotary Meera club called
“Sangini Initiatives” will soon by commencing in the city.
This initiative has been organized by the club to see if it can be a service to the senior citizens of Udaipur, and to make Udaipur a senior citizen friendly city.

This effort will initially conduct four services in their quest to make the city of lakes easier for senior citizens to live in. These services are:
1. Computer Classes run especially for senior citizens for a month in the evening.
2. Monthly Lecture Series which will include twelve lectures as well as on the spot consultations on topics related to health which will be conducted by voluntary doctors.
3. Dedicated Senior Citizen Hours in which private clinics and doctors will provide priority
treatments to seniors for 1-2 hours each week
4. Phone-a-Friend which will see volunteers from Rotary Meera offering their time and support to senior citizens and acting as companions for them while visiting the doctor, banks etc. or simply spending some time over a cup of tea. The initiative will be flagged off at 10:00 am on 8
th July, 2011 at the
Vidya Bhawan Auditorium by Mr. Mathey Cherian, the Executive Director of Helpage India.
