Work on construction of second terminal at Udaipur is set to start soon. Apron work for the terminal is almost complete. The airport apron is the area of an airport where aircraft are parked, unloaded or loaded, refueled, or boarded.

Work will soon be initiated on construction of the second terminal building along with other technical works. The new terminal will be three times the size of existing terminal. Work on the terminal is expected to be completed by next year.

Construction of boundary around the apron has been done. Now, boundary wall to connect with existing runway has to be broken to connect the apron with the existing runway. AAI has also initiated the process for land acquisition on Bhatewar side for runway extension.

Chittorgarh MP C.P. Joshi informed that discussions on Terminal-2 building have already been done with Civil Aviation minister Suresh Prabhu and State Minister Jayant Sinha. A budget proposal of Rs 676 Crore has been sent towards the same.

Construction of Terminal-2 will increase parking facility of aircrafts and will also reduce passenger load significantly on Terminal-1. Current terminal has parking space for 7 big aircrafts and 15 small aircrafts. New apron will allow parking space for 15 big aircrafts and 25 small aircrafts.

Current terminal allows only 2 aircrafts to land or take-off at any point of time. The new terminal will help in improving his capacity also significantly.
