Security tightened up for New Year Celebration

As the City of Lakes is all set to mark a series of celebrations on New Year’s Eve on Saturday, 31st December 2011, the security is closely tightened to defend law and order. Extra police force has been deployed at all major tourist areas and the city center to avoid any unwanted problems caused by anti-social elements or over enthusiastic Udaipurites. “We have divided the city into 5 sectors and all will be controlled by Deputy Superintendent Officers under the direction of ADSP” says Alok Vashishta, S.P. of Udaipur.

The city is already witnessing a number of local and foreign tourists this time; most of them are in the city to celebrate the commencement of the New Year. According to sources, most of the hotels, restaurants and resorts are already booked prior New Year.

According to S.P Alok Vashishta, 26 locations of the city are marked out which will be under special observation, with additional traffic control staff being deployed at all circles and MB Hospital.

Breath Analyzing machine would be used to check whether people driving vehicles are under the influence of alcohol and strict action will be taken if anyone found breaking laws.

“We will make sure that liquor shops are closed by 8 p.m and no illicit trading of alcohol takes place”, says the officer while talking to UT

He also informed that as per directions of the Supreme Court, the music systems will not be allowed after 10:30 pm. Nonetheless, at hotel and private parties, it will be allowed within permissible levels of volume.

Besides, the regular 11 police patrol vehicles, 20 police bikes and 6 Hawks will watch the city areas while anti-riot vehicles are also set to fight severe conditions. Inter-sector vehicles with 2 traffic police will also check the high speed vehicles. Policemen will also be present in civil clothes.
